This has been a season to forget for my NFL picks. That’s for sure. But I said I would post all season and plan to stick to my commitment. One big week and I can be right back in the game. This is the worst season I have had in awhile, but good handicappers have a down season once in awhile. Due to vacation last week I wasn’t able to post by picks but did have a winning week at 4-2. Let’s hope that will be the start of some momentum for the stretch run of the season.

Picks are rated 1-3 Units with a 3-Unit pick being the strongest. I have my second 3-Unit pick of the season going this week in the Arizona/Seattle tilt.

Picks Nos. 1 and 2

1-Unit Straight Bet on Both Side and Total

Buffalo +1.5 over New York Jets

Buffalo/New York Jets OVER 41.5 Points

Love the Bills in this spot. I think mediocre teams like these go through ebbs and flows throughout the season. The Jets had their time when they excelled but seem to be trending downwards while I think the Bills can put together a run as they are finally getting healthy and their offense is starting to click. I think they will overwhelm the Jets defense tonight. This one will be higher scoring than expected.

Pick No. 3

2-Unit Straight Bet

Chicago +7 over St. Louis

Just don’t like the Rams as big favorites. The Bears have been playing hard every week and never gave up in their come-from-behind win at San Diego on Monday night. I think this line should be around 4.5 as Chicago is a bit underrated. This will be a close game, and I really like getting a whole TD here and think the Bears are playing with some momentum right now.

2-Unit Straight Bet

Philadelphia -6 over Miami

For the same reason I like getting a full TD with Chicago as an underdog I like laying less than a TD with the favorite here. And I think this one could be a blowout. Even though teams are never as bad or good as they looked the previous week, Miami has looked really bad most of the season, and their two games in which they did look good were against bad opponents. With this being the first of three very winnable games for Philly, we think this is where they make their move in the NFC East.

1-Unit Straight Bet

Jacksonville +6 over Baltimore

The Ravens should not be this big of a favorite over any team right now. Win or lose, the games are normally close. And I have seen signs of improvement the last few weeks from the Jags. I think that the Ravens should get the three points for home-field advantage and maybe an extra half point, but that’s it. There is some value in this line as I think this one is a field goal game either way.

Pick No. 6

1-Unit Straight Bet

Cleveland +5.5 over Pittsburgh

Probably no Big Ben in this game for the Steelers and Josh McCown should start for Cleveland. They have the edge at QB with Landry Jones likely under center for Pittsburgh. The Browns have not looked good lately, but we are getting a good line here as they normally play tough in divisional matchups. Pittsburgh is getting too much respect from the oddsmakers because of their name here. I have this line at a field goal.

1-Unit Straight Bet

Oakland -3 over Minnesota

Minnesota QB Teddy Bridgewater is listed as questionable here. If he doesn’t go I would bump this up a unit. Oakland is playing really well, and QB Derek Carr is getting better every week. They don’t seem to be getting the respect from the oddsmakers that they should. Minnesota hasn’t played their best on the road, and we think this line is more than fair for the home team.

2-Unit Straight Bet

Kansas City +6 over Denver

Chiefs coach Any Reid has been masterful after the bye week. The Chiefs have had some tough breaks this season, but this team is still in the wild card hunt, and they know this game is crucial to that pursuit. They have a pretty manageable schedule down the stretch. They should put their best foot forward in this game, and Denver is just not as good as their record would indicate. KC came within one play of winning here last season and also in the first game earlier this season in KC.

Pick No. 9

3-Unit Straight Bet

Seattle -3 over Arizona

I just love the Seahawks in this spot. It has been a disappointing season to this point. But this one starts a three-game homestand, and the Seahawks can really make some headway with a strong performance here. We think they are the better team despite the records and think they get a big win here at home, where they are 4-1 in this series in the last five meetings.
