This is a basic strategy teaser. You can read more about the concept here. But for a quick explanation, a basic strategy teaser gives you an extra six points each for the line on two games. You have to win both games for the bet to win. You are moving each line through the key NFL betting numbers of 3.0 and 7.0. So here we are teasing New England down to -1.0 on the Thursday night game while bringing the Saints up to more than a touchdown as an underdog. I always do really well with basic strategy teasers and plan to play a lot of them this year. Take New York Jets -3 over Cleveland

I just really like the Jets in this matchup. New York got a lot of bad offseason press, and they weren’t very good last year. This team does have some talent, however, and I think their QB situation is light years better than that of the Browns right now. Cleveland also has some bad karma heading into the season with Manziel’s offseason antics and now an assistant coach has been accused of assaulting a woman. I think New York earns a comfortable win here, and I think this is a better ballclub than the Browns. This 3-point spread really means the bookies think these teams are equal but they give the Jets the edge based only on home-field advantage. I think the Jets are a better team. 1-Unit Straight Bet

Take Oakland +3.5 over Cincinnati

I think the Raiders are finally moving in the right direction and they should be much better this season even though it might not be apparent in their record since they play in the tough AFC West. But this team should be an underdog plenty this year, and I will be looking at them hard every week. I really think this one is a field goal game either way, so getting the extra half-point off the key number of 3.0 is huge here and the reason I am making this wager. Take Tampa Bay -3 over Tennessee

Here is another game where the bookies think the teams are even and only home-field advantage is determining the line. I, however, think that Tampa Bay is a better team. Both clubs have rookie QBs getting the start here. But Jameis Winston has more weapons in Tampa Bay, and their defense is better, too. I expect Tampa Bay to pull this one out here and cover the line.
