NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 14 Opening Line Report
It took until Week 13, but my main NFL Survivor Pool finally finished this past weekend. Of course, I did not have a great season and was bounced early along with most of my fellow competitors. But I did say earlier in the season that the toughest thing in NFL Survivor Pools is lasting through the first 6-7 weeks and then it is normally a lot smoother sailing (even with less teams to choose from each week) because by that point we have a better idea of which teams are good and which teams stink. It would have helped a lot of contestants to know at the start of the season that the Jets were a 7-9 or 8-8 type team or that the Jaguars were a possible division winner. Or that the Raiders would be an 8-8 type team with an underachieving season. It really helps to do your homework on all these teams before the season, and it also takes some good luck!
Every week in this spot I will go down the list of favorites (mostly teams favored by more than three points) to narrow down my Survivor Pool picks for the week. I decide on the matchups I like and then my next move is to put those teams in a list and then do further research in order to narrow down my picks to the teams I want to use for the week.
Most pools are already done, so I know that this won’t be read by many. And to be honest we might not continue with the blog next year as it takes a lot of time and the traffic hasn’t been what we had hoped as during the last couple years many Survivor Pool players were knocked out the first few weeks. If you like the blog and want us to continue then drop us a tweet or send an e-mail and let us know. If we could get some more individuals to help with content then that would help keep the blog afloat as it’s a lot for only two people who both have busy full-time jobs.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 17
Cincinnati -6 vs. Chicago: This is the point in the season where you have to probably consider taking a team like the Bengals this week. I thought Cincinnati showed a lot of heart against Pittsburgh on Monday night, but they lost the game on the last play with a Steelers field goal. Their margin of error is now zero in hopes of a wild card, so you can have faith in the better team with everything to play for. The Bears looked awful last week in a home loss to San Francisco, and this team looks like they have thrown up the White Flag on the season.
LA Chargers -6 vs. Washington: This is a matchup I like less than the last one, but the Chargers might be available to you in your NFL Survivor Pool. The Chargers have been playing very well, but they let the Browns keep the game closer than it should have been last week, and this just seems like a squad that doesn’t handle prosperity well. Also, Washington has had one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this season, and this club is better than their record would indicate.
Those are really the only two big favorites that Survivor Pool players that are still alive have possibly not used yet. I would favor the Bengals big time out of those two matchups. Other smaller favorites I like in order of strength are:
Jacksonville
Houston
