Week 14 NFL Survivor Pool Picks: Official Predictions from Former Winners
So on Sunday I had the Seattle Seahawks for my Week 13 NFL Survivor Pool pick. There are 12 people left in my pool, including myself, and I was sure after everyone advanced in the early games that I would be subjected to an upset in the late Sunday game. But Seattle went out and dominated the Carolina Panthers, so I live to see Week 14.

Week 14 NFL Survivor Pool Picks
Jeremy Martin
Best Big Favorite
Detroit vs. Chicago: The Lions are a team I normally don’t want any part of for Survivor Pool picks. They have trailed in the fourth quarter in every game but one this season yet have eight wins on the year. They always make things too close for comfort. But this is a game that we think they can play well in. The Bears got their first win in seven meetings in this series in October, so that sets up a solid revenge spot for the home team here. The Bears are a lot worse at this point in the season after dealing with many injuries in the past couple months. Chicago won last week vs. the Niners and they are probably content with that and probably won’t put up much of a fight here.
Under-the-Radar Pick
Indianapolis vs. Houston: These teams are going in opposite directions as the Texans have lost three straight while Indy has won three of four. I don’t think the Texans are a playoff team but the Colts might be, and they have to keep winning in order to secure this division. They have a huge edge at QB and they are very confident here after a very solid effort on Monday Night Football. I think the Colts will win this one pretty easily on Sunday.
Stay Away
Cincinnati at Cleveland: There have been many bad teams over the years in the NFL, but only one has managed to go winless the entire season, the 2008 Detroit Lions. I am pretty confident that Cleveland will get a win here in the last four games, and this contest looks like a great candidate for them. They come off a bye here and will face a Cincy team with a likely lame-duck coach and one that seems like they have mostly given up on the season despite a nice win last week. This will probably be a popular pick in NFL Survivor Pools, but I will stay far away from Cincy in this spot.
Kyle McCarthy
I got burned by Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs last week as he personally accounted for eight points against the Atlanta Falcons with a two-point conversion interception return being the playy of the game and getting the Chiefs a one-point win. You never like to lose, and it was especially tough to go down like that.
Best Big Favorite
Indianapolis vs. Houston: The Colts lost a close games earlier this season 23-20 in Houston. These teams seem to be going in opposite directions, with the Texans losing three in a row. The Texans can’t seem to get the offense going under new QB Brock Oswieller, while the Colts are finally healthy with all the WRs at full strength. Colts get the victory on the fast track of Indy.
Under-the-Radar Pick
Minnesota at Jacksonville: It has been a tale of two seasons for Minnesota, who started off 5-0 and have gone 1-6 since. The Vikings are still in playoff contention and will be playing for the postseason. With a strong defense that will shut down a weak Jags offense, the Vikings get a much-needed road win.
Stay Away
New England vs. Baltimore: No team gives the Patriots more fits than the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens come into Foxboro with a healthy defense that will be ready and able to shut down the Patriots ground game. This will put pressure on Patriots passing game allowing Ravens QB sack specialist Terrell Suggs to concentrate on harassing Tom Brady. Watch out for Ravens Rookie RB Kenneth Dixon!
