NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 10 with Expert Predictions and Analysis
Another big upset weekend in the NFL on Sunday. I apologize for the lack of content this week as I was on vacation in New Orleans for my girlfriend’s birthday over the weekend. I got to witness the big upset of the weekend with the local townfolk as the Titans shocked the Saints in overtime. It was a brutal weekend for Louisianans after LSU got pummeled by the Crimson Tide on Saturday. They know how to get over a bad sports loss, however: drink more booze! This is now the second time the Saints have been a big NFL Survivor Pool pick and then disappointed their backers (they lost Week 2 at home to Tampa Bay).
The Falcons were probably a popular pick in most pools as well as many of the other better teams have already been taken. They lost to San Francisco on the road in another decent upset. The Colts over the Broncos and Bears over Chargers were probably a couple other games that might have knocked people out of pools. Cincinnati was my top choice last week, and they demolished the Browns without breaking a sweat.
Since we are getting pretty late in the season, most of the really good teams have been taken already, even in second-chance pools. So I will try to look for winning Survivor Pool picks that may not have been taken already
NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 10: Expert Predictions and Analysis
Three to Follow
Seattle vs. Arizona: I really like Seattle to take care of business this week in the marquee game on the schedule for Week 10. Both teams come into this one off the bye. But the Cardinals haven’t played as well off the bye as the Seahawks have. Seattle is coming off a home loss to the Panthers. Despite their records, I still think Seattle is the better team, and it seems like this game could be the start of a surge as they have three straight at home. Seattle has won four of five in this series at home, and I have the feeling Seattle will get a comfortable win here. And they are probably available to many Survivor Pool players since they have knocked out many who have taken them earlier in the season.
Philadelphia vs. Miami: These teams don’t play often, but the Eagles have won all of the last three meetings by double digits. Dan Campbell is a joke of a coach for Miami, and his inexperience has been glaring the last couple weeks. This is a crucial stretch for the Eagles with games against Detroit and Tampa Bay upcoming, and I think this team is trending upwards right now. I think this one had a chance to be a blowout as all the confidence from that two-game winning streak is gone for Miami.
Carolina at Tennessee: The Titans offense looked good last week, but that was against the Saints and their awful defense. They should be in for a much tougher test here. The Panthers are playing some of the best team football in the NFL. They had been doing everything pretty quietly before beating up on Seattle and Green Bay. This could be a letdown spot because of those two big games. But Carolina just seems like the team that won’t have a letdown, and they seem intent on getting the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Three to Avoid
Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland: Probably no Ben Roethlisberger here. Definitely no Le’Veon Bell. And probably no Manziel for Cleveland as Josh McCown is listed as probable for the Browns. That is a good thing for Cleveland as he is a much better player right now than Johnny Football. Cleveland normally plays division rivals tough. They have looked crappy the past few weeks, and that is the reason this line is probably larger than it should be. It’s just hard to trust the Steelers right now with all those injuries. I could see Cleveland winning this game as I don’t think they are as bad as they have looked recently.
Baltimore vs. Jacksonville: This spread is currently at -5.5. I think it should be at a field goal. The Jags should not be this big of an underdog here. Heck, the Ravens should not be favored by more than a field goal over any team right now as they have a propensity to play teams close, win or lose. You can see signs of improvement from week to week with this Jacksonville team. Baltimore probably gets the job done. But I like the Jags plus the points in this one and think this game can go either way in a close contest.
Denver vs. Kansas City: Most have probably used Denver by now. But I think the Chiefs come to play here. They are off a bye week, and Coach Andy Reid has been phenomenal in his career of a bye. The Chiefs are not as bad as their record indicates, and they had a couple close games that went against them, including one against these Broncos in Week 2 where they had the game almost wrapped up. If the ball had bounced their way against Denver and Chicago they could be a wild card team right now. As it is in the horrible AFC they are on the cusp of playoff contention. This is their last chance probably to beat Manning as QB of the Broncos, and Denver just isn’t as good as their record may indicate. The Broncos are also coming off a tough game last week, and this may be a letdown spot.
